Service description
The ground preparation work begins at the moment when our clients buy the farms. RCR carries out all the procedures to obtain the permits to cut isolated trees in areas to be planted, and once the permits have been concluded with the MINAE, the vegetation is cleared.
1. Cleaning the land
This work is done with the help of a caterpillar tractor that sweeps the material that is considered an obstacle to achieve a good preparation of the ground, it also removes logs, roots and other residues which will be housed or piled up in the vicinity of the planting area.
2. Drains
Drainage should be done conveniently before planting; however, secondary and shallow drains can be constructed during the establishment or after planting.
The necessary drains will be built with the appropriate depths and directions to correct the direction of the water or drain streets. When building them, care will be taken to spread the land so that no dikes are formed that impede the natural flow of water into the drain.
3. Ground mowing
Before the mechanization of the land, a mowing is convenient since if it is not carried out, the stubble tends to saturate the teeth of the subsoiler. Though, it must be done at least a week in advance so that the weed integrates into the soil.
4. Mechanization of the land
4.1. Subsoiling
Subsoiling is the first intervention work on the soil, which seeks to break the hardened layer of the soil, and it is carried out in two directions up to a depth of approximately 75 - 100 cm.
4.2. Dredging
The dredging is carried out after the subsoiling. This process seeks to break and crumble both the land and the undergrowth.
4.3. Soil Tuning
The objective of tuning is to make the dredged surface (soil) as fine as possible. Two tuning processes are idea.
4.4. Ridging
The ridges are made with a plow tractor (the same used in agriculture) after putting the sticks in the rows and the refining, thus improving the effective depth, drainage, structure and the oxygenation of the soil. This work is carried out to recover sites that have little effective depth and that, without such activity, would not be planted.
4.5. Chemical preparation
After the mechanization of the soil, a pre-emergent herbicide is applied on the planting line to guarantee that there is no weed growth in the planting area.
